Eremo di San Valentino in Gargnano

The walk towards The Spiritual Retreat of Saint Valentino is really suitable for all the family, even if there are some parts  that are slightly demanding. This emotional excursion is available all year round, even during the autumn and winter months, when the surrounding nature turns wonderful shades of yellow, brown and red. Thanks to this itinerary you can admire exceptional landscapes typical of the higher part of Lake Garda.

Degree of slopes in metres: 200 m
Return distance: 3,2km
Difficulty: easy
Duration: about 70 minutes
Best period: all year (except after heavy rainful)

Recommended path: Arriving at Sasso (a fraction of Gargnano 560m), right at the beginning of the town you will find the path for the Saint Valentino’s Retreat sign-posted as path number 31 (be careful as after approximately 15 minutes there is a deviation). The initial 600 metres of road are flat, the itinerary crosses fields then enters the woods. After this part the path becomes more demanding, about 500 metres that slowly take you to a level of 700 metres.  At a short distance from the retreat it is already possible to admire an exceptional view, the lower region of Lake Garda in all its glory, Mount Baldo opposite and the town of Gargnano below. At this point it’s important to pay attention to the rocky path and some parts without guard rails or protection, so children must be controlled and held if necessary. Before arriving at the retreat you have to go through a small door and then the final steps to admire the beauty of the little church of Saint Valentino.
